Head of Security of the Golden Pavilion
Back-Up Firepower of the Third Wheel Pack
Boli Zouiszhe Kin of the Court of Bamboo Talons
Description
~Killer-cool, Kang dresses to impress. A crisp, gray sports suit, courtesy of Gucci, fits his athletic build custom-tailored. Black silk peeks from beneath the jacket that admits a faint bulge on the left. Kang accepts his stature as full-blooded Chinese, shorter than most Western men. But he possesses a roguish pride that makes him stand tall. Kang's smooth features remain young, in his early twenties. He often wears a good-natured smile on his face. But since a pair of Ray-ban shades conceal his brown eyes, that could be a shark grin. Kang keeps his black hair short but styled in recent fashion. Indeed, Kang seems sharp and top-of-the-line.~

History
Youth
"Go for the gold!" -- this was an unofficial motto that shaped Feng Kang's life. He was never involved in the Olympics, but rather the Jin Zhangpeng corporation -- the Golden Pavilion. The JZC was a multi-conglomerate based out of Hong Kong, but with global interests. His father, Feng Yu, a ranking corporate officer in Hong Kong, lived by that motto. He married his attractive secretary, Trun Ha Li. But their union was more than just passion or convenience. Just like the JZC itself, there was more behind it than met the eye. For Boli Zouiszhe controlled the JZC -- Glass Walker werewolves of China. These urban Fera seeded a large network of their human Kinfolk in the JZC, and Kang's parents discovered that they were both Kin. Their union served their Garou Tribe as well as one another's marital desires.
And Kang was the first result of their love. Kang was raised well, in a nice upscale condominium home in the suburbs of Hong Kong. His mother attended to him as best she could considering her job duties. Kang saw little of his father altogether. The JZC took care of hiring babysitters for the Feng's, doctor appointments, and carpooling Kang to his little league softball games. The JZC looked after its employees' families…even if this did tend to phase the family's existence out altogether. Kang felt like the company raised him. When he was six, his parents had another baby, a girl named Feng Ha Ji. Kang decided he would try and help raise his baby sister so she felt more welcome and normal. Kang was the only kid in school with a family situation like this, and he felt a bit odd when his friends went home to smiling mothers, and their fathers videotaped their softball games. All his parents really did was initiate him from an early age in the reality of the secret existence of the Boli Zouiszhe. It was a family secret he and Ji always honored.
As the siblings got older, however, tragedy struck. Kang continued to pursue his school-based athletics, participating in football (soccer), softball, and rugby. Ji just liked to go bicycling. But one afternoon, a automobile driver decided to speed through a suburban neighborhood, and... Kang was left alone once more. He was miserable for a few years after the loss of his sister. But he had his friends in school at least, and he was popular enough through his athletic ambitions. Always in the jock scene, he rarely lacked a girlfriend through high school either. His parents tried to guide his school career to more intellectual pursuits. But a man is good at what a man is good at -- and Kang was not stupid. He just lacked interest in academics. The older he got, the more commandeering he became, too. Kang was definitely an alpha personality, a leader in school and on the streets. His friends followed him. And despite his awareness of the werewolf blood in his veins, he pursued a fairly normal life. He hung out with his friends, chased girls, and helped his school win soccer trophies.
The Golden Pavilion
So his parents could still find him a job in the JZC after his graduation from school. There was no need for him to go onto college of any sort. He already had a nice career lined up in one of the world's largest corporations -- as a corporate security guard. JZC security wore unmarked sharp suits since they worked for the company. Of course, the ear plugs gave them away! Kang first had to go through a 3-month paid training seminar. There he learned various security techniques, including how to handle a firearm. Of course, his job mostly included being polite and monitoring activities through computer-operated video cameras. But he had to be ready. One never knew when trouble could arrive -- especially those starting trouble with the Boli Zouiszhe themselves.
After his training seminar was concluded, Kang jumped right into the job. He quickly came to enjoy the work. It paid great, the hours weren't too long, he had great job security, he got to stay close to his family's (corporate) roots, and he just really enjoyed the duties. Furthermore, training continued throughout his career at JZC. They always seemed to want to make sure their security officials were well-trained and up-to-date. As a young security officer, Kang mostly followed standard patrol routes through the main Hong Kong structures. For the first couple years of his career, everything stayed very cool. Once in awhile he had to help get rid of a noxious loiterer or a jerk of a vandal. But really, all that included was frightening off the perpetrator, or chasing him down, restraining him, then calling the cops. Though he carried a sidearm, he never had to use it. Of course, Kang trained all the time like his co-workers. And those first two years on the job gave him plenty of time to improve all of his relevant skills and update his security-related technological education. Hell, he even had time to date again. He found a nice girlfriend and they just enjoyed their time in the city. It was nothing serious. Kang suspected that his werewolf relatives would prefer he end up with someone of the same Tribe anyway.
Blooding
But trouble came in 2003. Desperate to regain influences lost to the return of the Flame Court, the Kowloon Devils decided to take a stab at JZC. The Kowloon Devils, an outlawed organization of Kuei-jin (vampires), used some of the remnants of their tattered Triad ties, to launch a very hostile takeover on the JZC's headquarters in downtown Hong Kong. When their aggressive demands for the sale of controlling stock options were rejected with a scoff, it was left to Kang and his fellow officers to see the men out. The outraged gangsters didn't leave without a fight, however. Bullets flew as Kang and his dozen comrades clashed with this enemy. Meanwhile, corporate called in back-up -- instead of the police. While back-up rushed from their offices in the skyscraper, Kang and the other security guards had to hold the angry gangsters and vampires back. Hiding behind chairs, Kang listened to the zing of bullets and blast of his own 9mm pistol. He remembered some of his peers cowering behind their cover, but his fearlessness helped restore their shocked morale. His bold aim dropped a few of the Triads as they tried to advance on the pinned-down security guards. A bullet zipped past his shoulder, tearing his suit but not skin. With his brave example, his comrades all helped stick it up.
However, the Kowloon Devils were not about to be restrained by "mere" security guards. The half-dozen vampires rushed ahead of their Triad allies. Bullets failed to inflict much harm on their hardy flesh, and they tore into several of the officers. Blood splattered and screams filled the spacious room. Kang watched in horror as one of the monsters rushed at him personally. It eschewed all semblance of humanity, becoming a grotesque beast with oily fur, horns on its heads, clawed hands, and an imposing stature of muscle-bound fury. The hellish glow of its eyes were what paralyzed Kang the most. While he instinctively pulled the trigger, bullets did nothing to the demon. It would have shredded the young man right there. But back-up had a habit of arriving just in the nick of time. Some of the innocent-seeming corporate officers of JZC dropped their sharp suits, exchanging them for furry, muscle-bound wolf-man war-machines. One leapt forward, tackling the demon back as it reached back to rend open Kang's throat. The Boli Zouiszhe turned the tides of that battle. Every Kowloon Devil and brazen Triad that went to JZC that night was slaughtered.
On the other hand, so many security guards were killed. Kang lost a good number of friends that day. On the bright side, he was promoted to chief of security! However, Kang lost more than friends that brutal evening. He lost a bit of his nerve. Having faced down a freakish monster of the abyss, even his Kinfolk lineage could not repress the horrible flashbacks and nightmares that plagued him almost everyday. Finally, he began to see a psychiatrist. As always, JZC gladly provided one -- the doctor worked for the JZC, in fact, and was a fellow Kinfolk. Xian Chen Chu helped him talk about the horror and issues Kang suffered following that attack. Dr. Xian even prescribed him some Valium to help him sleep. As time went on, Kang stopped having the nightmares. And the Valium helped with that. It helped a little too much, and Kang came to believe he needed Valium to go to sleep at all.
Transfer
Meanwhile, his flashbacks lessened as time passed. He got back into the swing of his job. Now and then, the repressed memories would blast to the surface and he'd practically have a nervous breakdown. He had to keep visiting Dr. Xian for psychotherapy: company orders. However, Dr. Xian moved to America to follow a very needy patient (Xi Lan Kong). Feng Kang arranged for his transfer to the same Little Asia district in Kansas City. Jin Zhangpeng had an outpost there and they needed a new security chief as the former man retired. Eager to end his psychological problem and learn more about the supernatural world that terrified him so much. So he moved to the USA. Feng Kang applied himself to this new environment and rededicated his well-trained talents and skills to the Boli Zouiszhe.
Significant Other
Kang met Shuxie Ren in late November of 2004. She came to work for the Jin Zhangpeng's corporate security team as well, although despite being Trueborn Ahroun, she had to accept Kang's seniority. But her acceptance didn't preclude a growing affection for the woman, and Kang couldn't help but seek her romance day after day. And day after day, she rejected him…at first. Eventually, he won Shuxie over. And this was all despite the fact that she's already married! Her husband was a corporate mogul back in Hong Kong, and hardly faithful to Shuxie. He had a mistress...! So they didn't feel too much guilt over their secret relationship. But both work and Tribal protocols would condemn their romance were it ever to become known. So Kang keeps a lid on things as he knows Shuxie does, too. He plots a way to get Shuxie divorced from her husband so that he can take his place. Until then, nothing more can come of their relationship.
Shuxie
Weakness Front Line Trooper
As evinced before, Feng Kang risks his life, sanity, and soul even in an as innocuous position as corporate security. Because his employers (and relatives) are werewolves, their enemies are his enemies. But he's not as tough as the Trueborn. It's only a matter of time before his comparably frail human body crumbles under the pressure.
Likelihood of Corruption
Average.
With his ignorance and dangerous position, Feng Kang would seem fairly vulnerable to demonic corruption and influence. Fortunately, Jin Zhangpeng is aware of this spiritual danger. It employs full-blooded Boli Zouiszhe techno-shamans to regularly screen all employees -- especially Kinfolk -- for the taint of Yomi.
